英文摘要 | Cycas taitungensis is an endemic specie that existed in Taitung County. Elementary studies including (1)the amount of seed production per year, (2)one- year survival rate of seedling, (3)the sex ratio and age structure and (4)the annual foliage leaf production were examined by enumerate survey. Three study plots and one 200-meter transect were arbitrarily established in the natural reserve area and an overall 208 adult plants and 161 seedings were examined. The results indicated that the field sex ratio was approximately 1:1, the seed reproduction rate was ca. 45%, and one-year seedling survival rate was nearly 27%. Leaf productions limited by light and individuals of C. taitungensis, which grew under the sun, have foliage leaves more than that in shady places. In nature population, the adults under the sun have more leaves than those in the shade; the heights and the amount of the leaves are well-correlated. Data obtained from the age structure study within the population showed the mid-age plants were discovered less than expected. Therefore, it is concluded that mid- age cycads have been widely poachered in the reserved area. |
