英文摘要 | Bi-weekly surveys were conducted to study the seasonal occurrence of Telenomus beneficiens in a 208 m area of F160 spring-planted cane fields at the experimental farm of Taiwan Sugar Research Institute in 1984/85 to 1993/94 crops. Of the 5,022 eggs of Proceras venosatus and the 2,231 eggs of Chilotraea infuscatella found in this study, 1,407(28.0 %) and 11 eggs (0.5%), respectively, were observed to be parasitized by this egg parasitoid. In the 1,418 parasitized eggs, 424 had Telenomus emerging holes already when they were collected in the field and 532 Telenomus adults emerged after the parasitized eggs had been collected. The sex ratio was found to be 0.71 females to 0.29 males from the emerged adults. The number of host eggs and parasitized ones varied significantly among crop years. There were 4,478 host eggs/ha/survey in the 1987/88 crop compared with 770 eggs/ha/survey in the 1985/86 crop. The highest egg parasitism of 31.2% was recorded for the 1986/87 crop and the lowest of 6.9% for the 1984/85 crop. The adult of this egg parasitoid started to appear in the first half of May, and was found abundantly from the last half of July to the first half of October, totalling 380- 1,079 parasitoid adults/ha/suvey, but they rarely occurred thereafter. The highest parasitism of 48.7- 80.6% occurring in August through September could be very helpful in regulating the host population. |
