英文摘要 | The present paper compared the bird species (excluding Apodidae) in two typical, but with different landforms, low-elevation (<1,500 meters) forest environments to investigate the effects of the landscape pattern on the composition of local bird communities. Both of the Ai-liau River watershed study area (ARWSA), located in the Central Mountain Range, and the Taitung Coastal Mountain Range study area (TCMRSA) were dominated by species inhabit primarily in the forest or in open areas, such as farm lands, stream and coastline, below 2,000m in elevation. However, the number of species recorded in the ARWSA (34 families, 107 species) was much higher than that of the TCMRSA (21 families, 58 species). No Ardeidae or Sylviinae was recorded in the TCMRSA, while there were 4 and 9 species recorded respectively in the ARWSA. This was the most obvious difference in the species composition between these two study areas. Compared with the ARWSA, TCMRSA was also lacking the species which used grasslands, shrubs, villages, wide-opened waters, as well as species whose distribution center was close to or above 2,000m in elevation. It is likely that the differences in the habitat composition and, more important, the patch size of various habitats and the elevation changes in adjacent areas were the major factors influencing the bird species composition in these two areas. |
