中文摘要 | 遠距教學是近代教育改革的主流,但許多教育工作者卻一昧追求昂貴的新科技, 揚棄成熟、有成效的舊媒體,因此,不但沒有達到提高教學成效的目標,反而喪失 經濟效益,扭曲了遠距教學中普及教育的理想。 本研究是要以普及的、經濟的電話科技,應用在發展落後、交通不便的偏遠地 區,以建立一套切實可行的遠距教學措施。這項研究有三個目的:對電話的遠距教 學做一個本土化的可行性研究、調查學生接納電話教學的程度及評估電話教學的輟 學率與學業成績。 研究人員在國立空中大學的澎湖中心進行了連接主控教室與遠距教室的「電話 教室教學」,參加的人員有離島地區的22位學生,在一學期順利的教學後,證實電 話遠距教學在本土環境下是可能的;而學生在事後的問卷中也肯定電話在提高上課 出席率上有極佳的效果,他們也表示了再接受電話教學的強烈意願。 但在比較電話教學與教室面授教學的學習成效時,空大部與空專部的實驗組及 控制組的學生,在輟學率及學業成績上均有明顯的交叉現象,可能的原因是空專部 的學生選課集中、課程單純,同學間容易產生互相鼓舞、切磋的效益;未來我們應 在教學環境的佈置及教學策略的運用上再求努力改進,以充份發揮電話遠距教學的 潛能。 |
英文摘要 | Distance instruction is among the main streams of the recent education reform. However, many educators are so fascinated by the new technologies that they simply ignore all the traditional though effective media. As a result, they fall short of achieving instructional goals even with tremendous expenditure in technologies. This study aims at adopting a mature and economical technology, conference phone, to establish a distance instruction in remote and underdeveloped areas. There goals of this study are: examining the feasibility of telephone instruction, investigating students' acceptability, and evaluating the drop-out rate and learning achievement of using telephone instruction. We conducted an experiment of "tele-teaching" to 22 Open University students living in remote islets in Peng-Hu County. After the successful implication of telephone instruction for one whole semester, it is evident that telephone instruction is feasible in our distance education contexts. The questionnaire analysis shows that telephone instruction significantly improves attendance rate and students want to use it again. Nevertheless, there is an aptitude-treatment interaction between university-level and collegelevel groups in drop-out rate and learning scores. We suspect that small-group learning that encourages student interaction may be a possible cause. In the future, in order to fulfill the potentials of telephone distance instruction we should continue to work on improving the classroom settings and adopting different teaching strategies. |
