英文摘要 | Cadmium is toxic to pea (Pisum sativum) seedlings and cell cultures, because it may repress their growth and nitrogen metabolism at 10-100 ppm concentrations. The seedlings were studied hydroponically in Hoagland solution supplemented with CdCl₂. The cell suspensions were treated with B5+0.5 mg (2.4-D) nutrient solution containing CdCl₂. Several aspects of both treatments have been shown to be affected by cadium. There was a progressive decrease in dry weight as the Cd concentration was increased. Nitrate reductase activity was not a affected by Cd at 1 ppm. Soluble protein content was decreased as the Cd concentration was increased. There were remarkably relative and absolute loss in DNA and RNA contents as the Cd concentration was increased. The sensitivity of CdCl₂ is higher in pea cell cultures than in the pea seedlings. |
