英文摘要 | Cell suspensions of leafy spurge (Euphorbia esula L.) were stressed using nutrient solutions containing mannitol. Cell samples were removed at 3-day intervals from initiation of stress through 15 days. Measurements were made to determine dry weight accumulation, nitrate reeducates activity, soluble protein content, DNA and RNA contents of both the control and stressed cell cultures. There was a progressive decrease in fresh weight to dry weight ration as the osmotic potential was lowered as compared to the control, suggesting that mannitgol may enter the cells. Several aspects of metabolism have been shown to be affected by water stress on a per gram dry weight basis. Dry weight accumulation was suppressed under eater stress. Nitrate reductase activity expressed on a protein basis, was not affected by stress. Soluble protein content of mild stressed cultures were slightly higher than that of the control. It is suggested that soluble protein is controlled by the osmoregulation. DNA and RNA contenst were decreased by water stess -1.5 MPa. |
