英文摘要 | A total of 1,572 hogs with carcass length (measuring from the anterior edge of the first rib to the anterior edge of the public bone) from 81 to 86 cm was used to determine phenotypic correlation among conformation traits measured in hog carcass. Fifteen carcass conformation measurements were collected on skinless and chilled carcasses of hogs. Measurements were:: skinless backfat thickness at the first rib, the last rib, and the last lumbar vertebra; abdominal length measurements for the chest, diaphragm, and lumbar regions; carcass depth measurements at the first rib, the posterior of the sternum, the last rib, and the last lumbar vertebra; measurements for length and girth of hind leg; and carcass weight. When hog carcasses with 81 to 86 cm in length were sampled, the coefficient of variation of carcass conformation measurements varied from 3.3 to 17.9%. Correlation coefficients among traits were described as follows: Dorsal length at the rib region and abdominal length at the chest region were negatively correlated with carcass weight, but other traits were all positively correlated with carcass weight (r=0.03~0.61) while the highest correlation coefficient was observed between leg girth and carcass weight. It indicated that carcass weight was associated with the hind portion of the carcass. Leg girth with four measurements of carcass depth had 0.24~0.33 of correlation coefficients, with three measurements of backfat thickness having 0.17~0.19, and with leg length having 0.09 (P<0.001). Leg length with three measurements of backfat thickness had negative phenotypic correlation (r=-0.10~-0.12), but with 0.22~0.37 of coefficients to four measurements of carcass width. A negative correlation existed between dorsal length at the rib region and at the lumbar vertebrae region (r=-0.30). Abdominal length at the chest region was positively correlated with dorsal length at the rib region (r=0.18) but negatively correlated with dorsal length at the lumbar vertebrae region (r=-0.20). Dorsal length at the rib region and abdominal length at the chest region had correlation coefficients of –0.07 to 0.09 with leg traits (leg girth and leg length). |
