英文摘要 | Background: Twenty-four-hour creatinine clearance (CCr) is commonly used for the evaluation of total renal function, although it does not identify a unilateral renal disorder. The ureteral jet index (UJI), recently developed through color Doppler and spectral Doppler ultrasonography in the Clinical Laboratory of Medical Ultrasound at Tainan Municipal Hospital, can be used for unilateral evaluation. The authors set out in this study to observe the relationship between CCr and the total UJI. Materials and Methods: Forty men and 12 women without evidence of any ureteric abnormality were enrolled. Twenty-four-hour urine was collected. Urine and blood creatinine concentrations were assessed and CCr was thereby calculated. Within one week of, either before or after, CCr assessment, subjects were observed with color Doppler ultrasound to evaluate the ureteral jet on each side. The unilateral UJI was calculated as follows: Vmean (average jet velocity, cm/second) x D (jet duration, second) x F (jet frequency, second 笐 ). The total UJI is the sum of the indices of the two sides. The relationship between the total UJI and CCr was evaluated through a linear regression equation. Results: There was a good correlation between the UJI and CCr. (Total UJI= 1.021+0.3153xCCr, r=0.724, p<0.001). Conclusion: The total UJI proved to be a reliable indicator of renal function in the absence of ureteral abnormality. Moreover, the UJI can be assessed unilaterally. |
