英文摘要 | This study, basing on the theory of Miles-Snow's strategic types, developes and examines the conceptual link between general manager's demographic characteristics, product-market strategy, and business performance. Fifyt-nine manufacturers from machine tool industry in Taiwan were sampled as empirical subjects. The results show that general manager's education level and organizational size play important roles in explaining variation in realized product-market strategy and business performance. Support is also provided for the propositions urged by Miles and Snow that prospectors, analyzers and defenders performed equally well and were superior to reactors. Results of semipartial correlation analysis indicate that the fits between general manager's demographic characteristics and Miles-Snow typology have significant impact on business performance. The implications and suggestions for future studies are discussed based on the study. |
