英文摘要 | Three sucrose-related tratis-Brix, purity and sugar content were studied and it was found that the genetic variances for these three traits were largest at the early maturity stage (1.56, 6.58, 1.38, respectively) and smallest at the late maturity stage (0.28, 0.57, 0.28, respectively) . The broad-sense heritability for the three sucrose-related traits was also highest at the early maturity stage (0.95, 0.94, 0.95, respectively) and lowest at the late maturity stage (0.83, 0.73, 0.89, respectively). The broad-sense heritability of Birx is smilar to that of sugar content during the whole maturity stages. The study suggests that selection for sucrose-related traits will have higher expected genetic gains at the early maturity stage than selection practiced at other maturity stages. The amount of improvement in sugar content achieved by indirect selection for Brix was estimated as high as 92-97% of the amount of improvement obtained by direct selection for sugar content under the same selection intensity. This suggests that indirect selection for Brix could be used to substitute for direct selection for sugar content, especially considering the high cost and labor-intensive nature of sugar-content anslysis. It was also found that the efficiency of indirect selection for Brix will be higher than that of direct selection for sugar content when a higher selection intensity is applied to Brix selection. |
