英文摘要 | The object of this paper is to develop an interface that bridges the gap between 3D CAD model and CAM system. The main issues addressed here include: (1) the analysis of 3D CAD data, and (2) the generation of NC part programs. The analysis of CAD data deals with feature-based design and volume decomposition of 3D CAD models. The purpose of volume decomposition is to decompose the volume, which needs to be removed from raw stock to produce the final machined part, into some machinable features. Once machinable features of a part are found, the machining of the part can be viewed as machining of a series of machinable features. The generation of NC part programs is related to the input of process planning data and the automation of NC code generation. In this research, the sequence of machining each machinable features is determined by the user, while the NC program for each machinable feature can be automatically generated once tooling data is provided. In addition to discussing the fundamental theory, this research also addresses the development of a prototype computer system which integrates the following modules: machinable features extraction, volume decomposition, NC code generation and cutting simulation. The prototype system is used primarily to verify the correctives and usefulness of the concepts and approaches proposed in this research. |
