英文摘要 | Uranium was measured via the detection of Np-239 (2.35 days) through the reaction U-238 (n,γ) U-239, due to the short life time of U-239 (23.47 min). Also, thorium measurement was made by the detection of Pa-232 (27 days) due to the short life time of Th-233 (22.3 mm). Sludge samples showed higher values of both uranium (U) and thorium (Th) concentration compared to Municipal solid Waste (MSW) samples. Increasing the rate of organic waste applied to sandy soil resulted in a higher levels of both U and Th. Increasing organic waste rate of application, significantly increases Np-239 and Pa-232 contents in seeds of tested crops. However, MSW treatment resulted always a higher accumulation of Np-239 and Pa-232 in sesame seeds than Sewage Sludge (SS) treatments. A significant linear regression equation was obtained between the rate of application for any tested organic source and Np-239 or Pa-232 content in sesame seeds or com grains. this linear relation indicates that these metals are readily available to the plant. Always, transfer values for corn in general were higher than those for sesame by one order of magnitude. |
