中文摘要 | 鑑於放射與輻射相關事件,對整個社會衝擊甚大,本研究乃嘗試利用輻射鋼筋事 件與核能發電廠放射性物質外洩等日常生活的事例, 開發設計相關的 STS 模組,並探討如 何運用 Carlson 與 Aronson 的 STS 教學新策略, 使師院學生與師資班學生能學到正確的 知能,並可協助其袪除恐核的感覺。本研究之主要目的共有四點:(一 ) 設計開發有關核化 學的 STS 模組:以文獻探討有關核化學的研究,並參考王澄霞教授 (民 83) 的模式,設計 教學單元活動。(二 ) 使用上述開發模組之教學活動單元,於師院大一、大二、大三學生, 以增進其有關核化學的知能與正確的態度。 (三 ) 運用下列教學策略 (Instructional strategy), 培養學生 STS 的專業教學能力: 分組討論 (Group discussion)、 角色扮演 (Role playing) 以及合作學習 (Cooperative learning) 等方法, 以使用所開發出來的模 組。(四 ) 根據研究的實徵性發現,攫取重要經驗,作為我國今後進行有關核子方面爭議的 環境教學之參考。在整個研究過程中,教師與學生共同合作開發核化學的模組,並在合作學 習的活動中,培養了民主風度,以及開放、批判性的思考,對於促進學生在考量有關核能方 面問題的能力,實在具有莫大的助益。 |
英文摘要 | Ecological disasters such as radiating-steel events and the violent protest incidents against constructing the fourth nuclear power plant have caused people in Taiwan great fear and several empirical studies have indicated that most people in this society have strong negative feelings associated with nuclear issues in Taiwan although they have little conceptual understanding about radiation and radioactivity. Moreover, in the last 10 to 15 years, environmental issues have become central to the public's understanding of science and to their concern for ecological balance. Taiwan schools are urged to provide environmental education that will help students to clarify their values on controversial social issues. It is really urgent for us to change our goals of science education so that we can develop in students higher cognitive abilities and scientific literacy which integrates and interacts science learning with both human ecological considerations and social needs. The science/technology/environment/society (STES) theme has not only made strides into contemporary science and environmental educationk, but has also been recognized by most science educators as an essential component of present and future science education for all levels. STES education aims to deliver scientific knowledge of a kind that is relevent and useful to students by helping them to apply it in the social context of the everday world. The main purpose of this paper is threefold: (A) To describe how the modular material of STS activity in the area of nuclear chemistry was developed in accordance with the model advanced by Wang (1994.) (B) To report on how to cultivate the scientific and environmental literacy in Taiwan college students by utilizing instructional strategies such as: cooperative learning mode, group investigation and discussion, and field experiences. (C) To provide meaningful suggestions for application in environmental education, based upon important findings which have resulted from adopting qualitative method to observe students' learning processes and performances. According to the empirical results from this study, it appears that teaching the nuclear chemistry unit byb utilizing the STS module can be a promising strategy to foster students' critical thinking as well as scientific literacy. |
