英文摘要 | This study proposes to simulate numerically the moving trajectory of typhoon vortex in the north-western Pacific area. The basic idea is derived from Kuo(1969)and Fujeta et al(1968),i.e. to calculate the Magnus force(or the net pressure produced by the environmental flow) exerted on the vortex body and thereby to deduce the moving trajectory of the atmospheric (typhoon) vortex. Our simulation results do show that the typhoon vortex would trace a parabolic-like trajectory if only the Magnus effect (or accelertaion) would exert on the vortex body. This study also give a clear analysis of the Rossby effect for the purpose of comparison and clarification between our Magnus effect and the Rossby effect. The analysis shows that in the initial symmetric stage of circular cyclonic vortex, Rossby effect does push the vortex north-ward. However, Rossby effect itself also contains the seed of destruction of the symmetric property of the vortex. So, when the vortex symmetry is destructed and becomes asymmetric, the northward acceleration would no longer valid. |
