中文摘要 | 本文以行政防主計處「人力運用調查」為資料來源,選擇1983和1992年為截點,實證探討臺灣勞動力之社會階級及相關變項對男女薪資差異的影響。經運用描述、迴歸與薪資差異分解等統計方法證實:社會階級對薪資性別差異之解釋力相當顯著。而在每一階級層次中,女性的平均薪資皆遠低於男性。男女在人力資本上的差異是形成薪資性別差異的重要變項,但此變項之影響已日漸減弱。另一方面,結構性變項對薪資性別差異的影響力雖不及人力資本變項,但卻日漸增強。雖然在過去十年來,臺灣女性勞動條件有很大的改善,但是,本研究結果顯示,臺灣勞動市場對女性的歧視有加深之趨勢。 |
英文摘要 | This study focused on the effects of class, market, and human capital variables on gender earning differentials in Taiwan's labor force in 1983 and 1992. Data were derived from Manpower Utilization Surveys for 1983 and 1992. Descriptive analyses, multiple regression analyses, and decomposition methods were used to analyze the data. This study confirmed that class, measured by Goldthorpe's schema, are prominent factors in accounting for gender earning differentials. Within each class schema, women received lower earnings than men. Although human capital variables play an important role in explaining gender earning differentials, their effects have decreased over time. On the other hand, structural market characteristics are becoming more disadvantageous to females. Even though recent findings have shown a drastic improvement in women's accessibility to various opportunities in the labor market, this study leads us to reject the notion that gender earnings discrimination is declining over time. |
