英文摘要 | During the 1960’s, social history represents a new historical school which came into existence in the United States. In America, social historians focus their attention on the most common people, such as women, blacks, workers and immigrants, and their activities. This new approach, viewing history from the botton up, broughts to guestion many established interpretations and has enabled scholars to uncover many unknown events of American history. Today, this research project is to focus on the blacks and immigrant history after 1960s. Decades of discrimination against these people had accumulated tremendous amount of indignation which led to a serious of unprecedented protest movements. Therefore, social historians were determined to write about the most common people in America. This trend is to focus on the local history of blacks and various ethnic groups. Because of social history’s narrow focus, a general theory has become more and more difficult to make in American social history. |
