中文摘要 | 成年人每日花在聽、說、讀、寫的時間中,以「聽」佔有極重的 比例。許多研究分析顯示,台灣大學生在學習英語時,普遍認為對 聽、說能力的訓練具有迫切需要。既然強化聽力如此刻不容緩,而有 效的聽力測驗更是評量學生學習成果及改善教學方法的重要憑藉;故 可靠的測試是驗証教學成功與否的決定性因素之一,因此發展並改進 測驗題型是當前英聽教學極為重要的課題。 本文主要根據實用性立場,論述聽力測驗改革之意見。除簡扼述 及測驗與聽力策略之特性外,特別對完全以聽錄音帶方式進行之純選 擇題測驗型式予以肯定;同時建議以錄影帶節目製作試題。並對測驗 前之準備、測驗中之氣氛、測驗後之教學態度提出實用意見。文中籲 請各大學英語教學組建立題庫,以維持題型客觀性。另對世界新聞傳 播學院一六六位大一同學進行全學年共六次隨堂聽力測驗,將每人成 績與大專聯考英文成績作一比較,結果顯示兩種成績有密切關連,意 味讀寫能力確實對聽力能力有正面影響。據此,文中對初、高中英文 教學提出兩項誠懇建言,期望從根紮起,在各方有力配合下改進教學 課程,使學子有系統的逐步提昇聽力,進而學好實用英語。 |
英文摘要 | An adult native speaker spends a great portion of time on listening in his daily life when compared with speaking, reading, and writing. Most college students in Taiwan express an urgent need toward the training of listening and speaking abilities when learning English. Since it is so necessary to strengthen listening skills, making effective and practical listening test has become a required tool to measure students' achievement and improve teaching techniques. A reliable test may further decide the success of teaching. Therefore, developing better testing in listening has become an indispensable study in the TESOL field. Based on practical views, some directions are offered by the author in improving listening tests. After a brief discussion about language testing and listening strategies, the paper highlights the advantages of all-recorded multiple-choice questions. It will also hope for the adoption of questions from selected video taped episodes. Some viewpoints on teachers' self-evaluation items before, during, and after the test are suggested. It calls for building up the question bank in every college to maintain the objectivity of the question. A statistical comparison was made on 166 freshmen based on each student's mean score of six in-class routine listening test and his English score in JCEE (Joint College Entrance Exam). Results have shown a positive correlation between them, which manifest that students' reading and writing abilities have significant impact on their listening skills. Based on the findings, the paper offers two recommendations toward English curriculum in high school with the hope to renovate its course design. Only by the efforts of teachers and educators can students benefit most in learning communicative English. |
