英文摘要 | The purpose of this investigation is to try and understand the degree of cadmium poisoning in the waste water from electroplating factories and crimson dye factories which release effluents into the water ways in their vicinity. The method of determination is to use the water samples, dirt, soil and rice in the areas along the canals, fish and clams which live in the waters, and also the urine samples of people living in the contiguous areas, to check for the levels of cadmium in them by an emission spectroscope. From random sampling and analysis during a one year investigation period, we find that the levels of Cd in the water creatures and water samples of Er-Ren stream and the Cross Irrigation canal are higher than in ther other water areas of Taiwan such as along beaches and other rivers. The Cd level in the urine of the people who live nearby these water courses have a certain degree of correspondence with the quantity of fish and clams eaten. Of the people whose urine contain the 0.20 mg/L limit allowed for human beings, it is gound that most of them live near about the areas where Cd poisoning is serious. The effect of Cd contamination in the soil on agricultural produce does not seem to have any apparent relationship. |
