英文摘要 | This paper aims to adopt numerical method on solving the problem of central, single and double-edged through cracks in metallic plates and exploring the stress intensity factors (SIF's) with various crack lengths and different inclined angles due to tensile tests. Through this test, the finite size correction factor can be found easily as a function of the ratio of crack length versus specimen width. Both the finite element method (FEM) and software's of PATRAN and ABAQUS were applied to obtain the stress distribution at the crack tip by incorporating the quarter-point crack tip singular elements because of the singularity of 1/√r. the cracks involved contain five types: the centrally inclined (CT) cracks, single-edged inclined (SEI) cracks, symmetrically double-edged inclined (SDEI) cracks, anti-symmetrically double-edged inclined (ASDEI) cracks, and non-symmetrically double-edged inclined (NSDEI) cracks. From the results of numerical analysis, the value of KI is decreased with the increase of inclined angle, and the value of KII is maximal when the inclined angle is 45° according to the geometry that original crack is vertical to loading. KI is always larger than KII and that indicates KI is the dominating fracture mode. The SIF's at both crack tips of SDEI and ASDEI cracks are close to each other with slight difference. |
