| 中文摘要 | 本研究在探討技職院校大一學生閱讀迷你短文譯解英文難字及理解檢視的過程, 二百四十八位畢業於高職,現就讀於技職院校的大一學生參與此一研究,本研究同時也探討 英文高成就讀者與低成就讀者在譯解難字及檢視過程的差異。入學考試英文成績在所有受測 者中前五十名者為英文高成就讀者,而入學考試英文成績在所有受測者中後五十名者為英文 低成就讀者。本研究使用之迷你短文共有 12 道題,每道題由兩個以上的句子組成,語意完 整,線索豐富,每道題目裡有一難字嵌入其中。受測者要利用前後文的線索去猜測字義,將 它的中文意義寫下,此即譯解難字的表現。然後受測者要再簡短的敘述猜得該字義的理由, 此即檢視的過程。 資料經評閱、統計分析後,結果顯示,受測者在譯解難字平均值是 1.61 分,在理解檢視方面的平均值是 0.54 分。高成就的讀者無論在譯解難字及理解檢視的表現 ,都顯著的優於低成就的讀者。最後本研究建議以較長篇幅的自然正文,或是以不同教育背 景的學生來施測,其結果或可提供技職院校老師英文教學時的參考。 |
| 英文摘要 | This study investigated EST (English for Science and Technology) college freshmen's performances in decoding difficult vocabulary and their monitoring process when decoding. A total of 248 EST college freshmen participated in this study. This study also examined proficient and less proficient EST readers' performances in vocabulary decoding and comprehension monitoring. Based on their self-reproted English scores in entrance examination, the top 50 students were selected as proficient readers while the bottom 50 ones were less proficient readers. The testing instrument consisted of twelve items of mini text formed at least by two sentences. Results indicated that the subjects' mean scores were 1.61 out of 3 for vocabulary decoding and 0.54 out of 1 for comprehension monitoring. Proficient readers performed significantly better than less proficient readers on both vocabulary decoding and comprehension monitoring. Suggestions for future research were addressed. |
