英文摘要 | In this paper we perform a theoretical approach to study the effects of an isolated mountain on particle deposition. We first follow a previous work by Stout et al. (1993, J. Atmos. Sci, vol 50) regarding the dynamical behavior of particles in the atmospheric flow driven by sinusoidal mountain waves. In their numerical method, we demonstrate that the integration time should have an upper limit to avoid a numerical overflow and bifurcation and it can be regulated as a function of particle size. Furthermore, the trajectories of particles released at certain positions are depicted under various flow conditions induced by an isolated mountain. As a result, particle trajectories show more wavelike, if the mode of mountain wave falls in the regime of vertically propagating waves. In our conceptual model, two parameters which are related to the terminal velocity of a particle and the degree of mountain wave tilting, respectively, can be used to describe the dynamical features of particle deposition. |
