中文摘要 | 燃料電池(fuel cells)為近代新興的科技產物,可以將化學能直接轉換成電 能,在發電過程中不須經過熱機燃燒之步驟,故不受熱力學上卡諾循環 (Carnot-cycle)的限制,是一種高效率及低污染的能源直接轉換裝置。事實上,燃 料電池的發電原理早在十九世紀初期即為人所熟知,但直到六十年代因受到美國 太空計畫之重用才逐漸嶄露頭角。其後復經七十年代能源危機及八十年代環保運 動之雙重震撼,始被美國、日本及西歐等工業先進國家選為重點科研項目,同時 也加速開發的步伐。經過十多年的努力之後,燃料電池終於在發電、運輸及軍事 等領域攻佔一席之地。目前全球約有120餘座裝置容量介於50kW至11MW之間的 燃料電池發電廠在測試運轉中。由於燃料電池極有希望在下一世紀繼水力、火 力、核能之後,成為第四代的發電技術,因此本文特地撰述燃料電池發電廠的開 發近況、測試結果、應用推廣情形及國內第一座200kW燃料電池發電廠的引進計 畫,以饗國人,並希望此一與人類未來生活息息相關的高科技能夠獲得更多的關 注。 |
英文摘要 | Fuel cells are devices of modern technology that convertthe chemical energy in fuels directly into electricity. Since thispower generation process does not involve combustion, theefficiency is high as it is not limited by the Carnot-cyclethermodynamically. Further, it is relatively less intrusive tothe environments. The principle of fuel cells was discovered inearly 19th century, but it was only until 1960's that fuel cellswere made known to the public through the successfulapplication in the space programs. Both the energy crisis in1970's and the environmental protection drive in the 1980'sfurther inspired the United States of America, Japan andEuropean countries to choose fuel cells as one of the primetechnology to be developed. After progresses in these years,fuel cells now become one of the major functions in powergeneration, transportation as. well as military applications. Atpresent, more than 120 sets of fuel cells with capacity between50 kW to 11MW are under operations. Because fuel cells arehopeful to become the fourth power generation technologyafter hydro, thermal and nuclear power generation, this paperreviews the recent progresses, the performances and the resultsof promoting the applications of fuel cell power plants. Thefirst 200 kW fuel cell power plant in Taiwan will also bepresented. It is hoped that this modern technology that will beclosely related with the everyday life in the future can receivemore attention today. |
