英文摘要 | Traditionally, abrasion or erosion is considered as the etiology of class V non-carious lesions. There is increasing evidence that occlusal stress, caused by mastication and parafunction, may be a significant etiological factor. This could account for the presence of cervical tooth structure loss on some but not all teeth in an arch. Grippo has classified this form of tooth sttucture loss as "abfraction" which is defined as the loss of hard tissue substance caused by biomechanical loading forces. The process is caused by occlusal loading, creating tensile and compressive forces, which in turn cause microfracture, fatigue, flexure and deformation of of the tooth structure. However, non-carious cervical tooth structure loss has a possible multifactorial etiology. Abfraction may be just a factor in the development of cervical lesions. The purpose of this article is to discuss the pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of abfraction lesions. |
