| 中文摘要 | 本研究是以本土化的立場對大學生皈依佛教信仰之歷程所做的深度訪談研究;而 以偏向質性的社會心理學研究為取向。目的在於了解與探討大學生佛教信仰皈依歷程的種種 背景脈絡、影響因素及其皈依後的種種現象。研究方法是以半結構式的深度訪談進行資料收 集與了解。即以一些簡單的訪談主題為方向,但沒有設定其順序,也沒有標準化的訪談結構 與內容。而是視訪談對象及訪談進行之脈絡而深入或發展這訪談研究的。且這些訪談主題不 是由既有的理論所產生的,而是在過程中自然衍生的,且是在不同時期之訪談研究過程中逐 漸改變與發展出來的。本研究在臺灣北部七所大學中選取研究對象,共訪問了 45 位個案。 訪談研究自 1990 年 11 月起至 1991 年 10 月止。這約一年的訪談研究期中,概念之改變 與發展約分為七個階段。訪談資料透過訪談謄稿及分類分析整理,之後以研究者在訪談研究 期中建構或累積的概念進行詮釋。由本研究發現:個人的皈依歷程是一個多元辯証的發展歷 程;是與歷史、文化、社會這些大脈絡及個人人生際遇、生活經驗與心理歷程等都息息相關 的現象。包括了:文化環境、民間信仰、教育、科學與理性的意識型態、社會現狀、個體的 生長環境、個體社會網絡中的重要他人、家庭經驗與背景、社團、道場、學長、同參、學佛 典範、個人成長過程中的苦悶經驗、無意義感、死亡衝擊與焦慮、自我統整與生命關懷的追 尋歷程、人生際遇、高峰經驗等等。本研究以五個「時期」來區分這些皈依的歷程。即:「 學佛背景」、「接觸因緣」、「孕釀因緣」、「觸發因素」及「皈依後的歷程」等。然而這 些「時期」的概念主要是為了幫助吾人方便了解皈依歷程的變化;但每個個體其皈依的生命 史都是獨特而整體的發展歷程。最後本研究建議未來有必要繼續做更深入的質的個案研究。 尤其是對個人之生命史與宗教生命史做發展性的個案研究,或針對特定人物從事心理傳記的 研究,且研究對象可以擴大到非大學生的世界。 |
| 英文摘要 | This is a deep-interview study which investigate the process of conversion to Buddhism of college students in Taiwan. It adopts a qualitative social psychology approach from a indigenous view. The purpose is to understand and investigate the various context, contents, and phenomena in the process of Buddhism-conversion. The study uses semi-structured deep-interview to collect data. That is, using some simple topics as questions in the interviews without setting its sequences and without standarized structures or contents. The development of interview depend primarily on the interviewees and the interviewing process. These questions are not from any existing theory but generated naturally in the study process. 45 interviewees come from seven universities in northern Taiwan. In the one year interview period, from Nov. 1990 to Oct. 1991, the development of original concepts can be divided into seven periods. The researcher dealed with these data by transcript and taxonomic analysis, then interpretated these data by concepts constructed and accumulated in those interview periods. The Buddhism-conversion is a dialetic developmental process. It involves the historical, cultural and social context; it is also closely related to life encounters, life experence and inner growth processes. It includes cultural environment, folk religion, educational ideology of science and rationality, present social condition, environment in which a person grows, significant others in social network, family experience and background, experience of religious groups, religious tutors, religious peers, religious mentors, inner mind suffering experience, sense of meaninglessness, impact and anxiety of death, self-integration, process of pursuing life concern, and peak experience. The present study divides the conversion process into five "periods", that is: "background of Buddhism-conversion", "period of contact", "period of incubation", "period of precipitating", and "periods after Buddhism-conversion". However, the concept of periods only help us understand the variaty in the conversion process. The history of each one's conversion process is a unique and holistic one. This study suggests further deep and qualitative case study, especialy developmental studies of personal life history and religion history or biographical psychological study of specific person. It also suggests investigation of informants other than college students. |
