英文摘要 | A similarity solution of the highly nonlinear, coupled boundary-layer equations has been developed for steady laminar mixed convetion heat transfer between a horizontal plate and power law fluids. Of particular interest are the effects of the power-law viscosity index, the generalized Prandtl number and the buoyancy parameter on the velocity and temperature fields and hence the fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics. It was found that for all power-law fluids, the buoyancy force enhances skin friction group (SFG) and heat transfer group (HTG). However, SFG and HTG decreases with increasing generalized prandtl number. The skin friction group is, for all generalized Prandtl numbers, consistently lower for dilatant dilatant fluids (n>1.0) when compared with pseudoplastics (n<1.0). On the contrary, dilatant fluids generate higher heat transfer group than pseudoplastics do. Furthermore, the generalized Prandtl number has a more pronounced effect on HTG than on SFG, the opposite trend can be observed that the effect of buoyancy parameter is more significant on SFG than on HTG. |
