英文摘要 | A series of thermotropic block copolyetheresters, BBn-PE(x)s, with hard segments of poly(alkylene 4, 4'-bibenzoate) and soft segments of poly(tetramethylene ether) were studied by X-ray diffraction through two techniques. The reflective X-ray diffraction patterns indicate the crystallinity of the block copolymers in a semi-quantitative way but not the evidence of the smectic liquid crystalline phase. The polyether segments are amorphous at room temperature and the measured diffraction peaks are contributed to the polyesters segments. For the same n, the content and the average sequence length of the polyester segments decreases as x increases, the diffraction peaks become more or less broader and thus the crystabllinity decreases. The photographs of transmitted X-ray diffraction patterns not only indicate the presence of the diffraction peaks consistent with the reflective diffraction pattens but also show the presence of the smectic phase. The effect of composition on the liquid crystalline phase is also discussed. |
