英文摘要 | This paper describes the development of a pseudo 3-D finite element model for unsteady free-surface flow. The model is capable of calculating the velocity components in 3-D using a 2-D formulation. The model gives a more realistic description of the flow than that of 1-D/2-D approaches and the computation is less complicated than that of the genuine 3-D. As an example, the model is applied to study unsteady flow generated by an instant gate closure in an open channel. The performance of the model is assessed by comparing its numerical results with those obtained from a 2-D model. Fair agreement is observed between the models when the vertical velocity component is small. The results indicate that the fluid pressure tends to follow the hydrostatic as the vertical change of momentum is negligible. |
