英文摘要 | The method of two hour desiccator test for determining the free formaldehyde emission from wood products has been standardized in Canada for many years. In this study, the effects of changing the variables of its preconditioning and afterward two hour desiccator test were inuestigated. This study therefore, was conducted in two series. In the test series I, the effects of the changing of preconditioning parameters in a specified chamber, and in the test series II, the effects of test variables of two hour desiccator test on the free formaldehyde emission. Test series I showed that the rate of air flow in the chamber has a strong effect on the formaldehyde emission in the early slage of preconditioning, and there is nearly no effect after two days of this treatment. The duration of formaldehyde emission can satisfactorily be .expressed by the logarithm'ic equation for each level of air flow rate. The changing of space between the specimens in chamber showed that there is a slight effects( positive) on the emission of formaldehyde and it also can be described in the logarithmic-equation similarly asin the case of air flow. The changing of ventilation rate during preconditioning in chamber showed a different result, which showed that the ventilation rate of less than 2.5hr would be inadequately precondition the specimens for two hour desiccator test since its decreasing curve could not comply in the logarithmic-curve as described above. The final day's formaldehyde concentration in chamber preconditioning of all the above tests al so has a strong correlation with the afterward .two hour desiccator test values. The resuts of test series II indicated that the standard two-hour desiccator test value is varied noticeably by the volume ( or depth ) and the exposure surface of water in the sample dish; the rate of stirring water and the size of stirring rod"; the rate of fanning air inside the desiccator and the duration time of desiccator test. Among these test variables, the stirring of water during test period appeared to effect the most on the HCHO concentration in dish water. The emissions of formaldelhyde from surface and edge of particle boards were also tested and compared. The amount of formaldehyde emission either from surface or edge of boards was found directly influenced by the board structure and resin used. The boards with lesser formaldehyde contents resulted to have higher emissions of HCHO from the board surfaces those from edges , and the boards with higher formaldehyde contents showed higher emissions" of HCHO from the board edges than those from the board surfaces. |
