| 英文摘要 | The purpose of this experiment is to further study the utilization of sweet potatoes and their by-products to replace corn for feeding pigs and to determine their economic value. A total of 70 head Landrace-Yorkshire hybrid pigs each weighing 15 kg were used, and grouped to 7 according to sex, bodyweight and parity (ten pigs in each treatement). The feed materials were provided as follows: (1) Soybean meal, corn and fresh sweet potato vine; (2) Soybean meal, sweet potato chips and fresh sweet potato vine; (3) Soybean meal, fresh sweet potatoes and fresh sweet potato vine; (4) 22% protein supplement, corn and fresh sweet potato vine; (5) 22% protein supplement, sweet potato chips and fresh sweet potato vine; (6) 22% protein supplement, fresh sweet potatoes and fresh sweet potato vine; (7) Corn-soybean meal complete balanced diet. The feed ingredients were gradually increased according to the bodyweight of pigs during different growth stages. When the average bodyweight reached 90 kg, the backfat thickness was measured and the experiment was ended. The growth performance of pigs fed with 22% protein supplement (treatments 4, 5 and 6) was better than that of soybean meal treatments. Slower growth and longer feeding days were observed when the main source of carbohydrate was sweet potatoes or sweet potato chips. Pigs fed with sweet potatoes or sweet potato chips produced thinner backfat but more expensive feed cost required for each kg weight gain. The application of treatment 1 and 4 for feeding pigs gives more profit at prevailing feed cost. However, in order to utilize sweet potatoes and their by-products and to get better carcass quality, the adoption of treatment 5 is more suitable. |
