英文摘要 | A perturbation method is used to study the velocity distribution of the velocity boundary layer of a rotating sphere in power-law non-Newtonian fluids. After a suitable transformation of the coordinate variables, the velocity components are expressed in series of the angle measured from the axis of rotation. The velocity functions of the coefficients of the velocity components are described by ordinary differential equations with the flow index as the only parameter. Extensive compu- tational results are given for the velocity functions and the torque of the rotating sphere for different values of the flow index. Four terms of the asymptotic expansions are quite well to describe the velocity distributions. Lighthill appro- ximation is used to study the heat transfer of the rotating sphere under laminar boundary layer approximation. Likewise, an appropriate coordinate transformation and a series expansion in terms of the angle measured from the axis of rotation are used to obtain the temperature distribution as well as the heat transfer rate. The coefficients of the asymptotic series are described by second-order ordinary differential equations with the flow index as the only parameter. Extensive computational results are given for the coefficients and the heat transfer rate. |
