英文摘要 | Dried sweet potatoes and dried cassava roots are main carbohydrate ingredients in swine feeds in Taiwan, while yellow corn as carbohydrate in feed is not so popular at the present time. According to the authors report (1960) feeding dried sweet potatoes and dried cassava roots on swine as carbohydrate sources in ration showed no difference in feed efficiency and gains, but feeding yellow corn indicated significant improvement in daily gain and feed conversion. Recently, our Taiwan Surgar Corporation and other agricultural agencies have undertaken to promote the using of yellow corn as carbohydrate to improve swine production. Due to shortage of yellow corn on this we have to import yellow corn from foreign countries. So, it is worth while to determine the proper amount of yellow corn and dried sweet potatoes as main carbohydrates for growing-fattening swine. The feeds composition and feed formula is given in table 1. and 3. In this experiment, sixty hybrid weanling piglets. (Av. body weight 16.514 Kg.) were equally divided into 5 lots shown on table 2 with three replications by breed and litter into fifteen pen feeding to 80 Kg. body weight. The result is as fellow: (1) After co-variance analysis of feed consumption, we found that amoung lot 1, (yellow corn 100%) lot 2. (yellow corn 75%, dried sweet potatoes 25%), with lot 5.(dried sweet potatoes 100%) and lot 4. (yellow corn 25%, dried sweet potatoes 75%) the comparative dialy gains per head have significant differnce (P<0.01), while lot 2. (yellow corn 75%, dried sweet potatoes 25%), lot 3. (yellow corn 50%, dried sweet potatoes 50%) and lot 5. (dried sweet potatoes 100%) the difference is also significant (P<0.05). (2) The average daily feed intake per head in each lot based on variance analysis showed no significant difference. (3) The above data indicated lot 2. (yellow corn 75%, dried sweet potatoes 25%) has the best effect on dialy gains or feed efficiency, followed by lot 1. (yellow corn 100%), lot 3. (yellow corn 50%, dried sweet potatoes 50%), lot 4. (yellow corn 25%, dried sweet potatoes 75%) and lot 5. (dried sweet potatoes 100%). There is no significnat difference in feed intake of feed conversion rate between 100% yellow corn and yellow corn 75% dried sweet potatoes 25% mixture. In other words, 25% of yellow corn can be safely substituted by dried sweet potatoes in swine feed. |
