英文摘要 | (1) The minor object of the field crop varietal trial is to detect the yields in order to set out as means of selecting the high-yield variety as commercial cultivar. However, the major object of it is to know exactly whether the yield appeared at different growing season can continuely last to later years or crops in the future. In other words, we hold field experiments not only for the purpose of knowing the yield during the time of experiment, and more eagerly to know whether the yields being able to inherit to the progenies or just depending on the climatic condition at the time of carrying out the experiment. (2) The yield at any season is determined by two main factors, one is the weather condition, the other is the heredity of the variety. If the influence of the former is dominant and that of the later is relatively less effective, the yield is incredible and it can't assure their progenies to exhibit almost the came yields. (3) The object of this paper is to find out the component variance estimates of the yield of the new rice varieties in the regional trials, in order to serve as a reference for the rice breeding experts in the island. (4) The numerical data used for computing work in this paper has been collected from different places in the island since the restoration of Taiwan. There were six groups of data, could only be gathered by the author, which was the record of new high-yield rice varietal regional trials. The experimental period covers 16 years (from spring of 1950 to fall of 1965 and two crops per year). The experimental locations are distributed surrounding the whole island. Totally there are 264 individual experiments including in these six groups of data. (5) The categories of combining some several individual data to form appropriate and complex data for computing work are different groups, regions and combinations of different years and crops. Then the author proceeded the proper Analysis of variance and estimated the component variances of which were in the mathematical models. At last phenotype variances, heritability and average heritability could be obtained and used as the evidences of final conclusion. (6) From the whole data, a fairly high over-all average heritability (57.70%) is obtained. This means that if all of the experimental regions can be assumed as a random sample of the whole province, this figure does can be assumed as a random sample of the whole province, this figure does indicated that the rice breeding work in Taiwan may have a bright and hopeful future. (7) Classifying the combined data by the category of different crops and years, another inferential conclusion can be obtianed as follows: the average heritability of same crop seasons of different years (71.45%) is much higher than that of different crops within same year (46.26%) and that of both different crop seasons and years (49.44%). If the rice breeding program in Taiwan will be revised to the use of more distant hybridization parents and separation spring (first) crop from fall (second) crop, naturally the possibility of getting excellent varieties and the uprise of average heritability must be much higher than ever. |
