| 英文摘要 | This study investigated the gender differences in critical thinking skills and reflective thinking skills, as well as their correlation with mathematics performance on Comprehensive Assessment Program for Junior High School Students [CAP]. This research employed an assessment instrument designed to measure critical and reflective thinking skills in quantitative literacy, which was administered to 180 ninth-grade students from a junior high school in New Taipei City. The analysis also incorporated the students' mathematics scores from the 2022 CAP. The results indicated that there was no statistically significant difference in critical and reflective thinking skills between boys and girls at the school. However, boys exhibited a slightly better performance in reflective thinking skills with small effect size. Across all participants, both critical and reflective thinking skills were moderately and positively correlated with CAP mathematics scores, indicating that both thinking skills significantly predict CAP mathematics scores. Further analysis revealed that, for boys, both critical and reflective thinking skills significantly predicted CAP mathematics scores, with reflective thinking being the stronger predictor. However, among girls, only critical thinking skills significantly predicted CAP mathematics scores. Moderation analysis demonstrated that the effect of reflective thinking on CAP mathematics scores was more pronounced among boys than girls. The study concludes with a discussion of possible reasons for the observed gender differences in CAP mathematics scores and reflective thinking skills. |
