| 英文摘要 | This study focuses on the impact of cultural differences and the application of cultural humility in counseling supervision. As the core participants in the supervision process, supervisees' experiences are crucial for understanding the effectiveness of supervision. The characteristics of Taiwanese Chinese culture, such as respect for teachers and authority, hierarchy, face-saving, and harmony, may influence supervisees' willingness to express their true selves during the supervision process. This study explores the cultural differences supervisees encounter in supervision and how cultural humility promotes their professional development. Through qualitative research, this study invited five counselors with supervision experience to participate in semi-structured, in-depth interviews, focusing on the cultural differences and the impact of cultural humility in their supervision experiences. The findings reveal that cultural differences experienced by supervisees in supervision can be categorized into three specific dimensions: (1) differences in seniority and generational perspectives. (2) differences in values, and (3) differences in professional orientation. In response to these cultural differences, supervisors exhibited five cultural humility strategies: (1) building inclusion and respect. (2) providing opportunities for reflection and choice. (3) offering positive reinforcement and encouragement. (4) fostering openness and curiosity through discussion, and (5) demonstrating active focus and genuine regard. The strategies employed by supervisors had several significant impacts on supervisees, for example: (1) uncovering blind spots and gaining contextual understanding. (2) fostering openness to learning and expanding knowledge, and (3) alleviating anxiety and enhancing confidence. This study highlights the importance of centering supervisees in discussions about supervision. It further offers relevant discussions, recommendations, and limitations to deepen future explorations of cultural humility in supervision. |
