| 英文摘要 | The purpose of this study is to explore the experience of mother’s participating in a short-term filial therapy program for child with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). ADHD is characterized by core symptoms of inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity, which affect family dynamics, school performance, daily life, and interpersonal relationships. Parents experience significant parenting stress and seek assistance. Particularly in Chinese family culture, mothers often assume the primary caregiving role and face immense pressure in raising children with ADHD, which needs to be understood. Therefore, this study utilizes the principles of Garry L. Landreth's Child-Centered Filial Therapy model to design a six-week short-term filial therapy program. Additionally, a "heartwarming moment" session for the mother is included to promote the improvement of problematic behaviors and enhance understanding of the mother's feelings under the influence of family culture. The participant of this study is a mother of a child with ADHD, and the research was conducted using a case study approach. The findings revealed that short-term filial therapy had the following impacts on both ADHD child and his mother, and can be divided into two major aspects: For the mother, there were three main effects: First, the mother became more aware of her own emotions and was able to timely recognize and reflect her child's feelings, giving positive reinforcement to the child's changes. Second, through learning, the mother improved her parenting perspectives and skills, practiced gradually returning control to her child, and sought resources to help with difficulties. Third, the mother felt more emotionally stable, as being listened to and understood made her feel relaxed, and she became better at recognizing and adjusting the parenting techniques. As for the child with ADHD, there was four main impacts: First, the child's autonomy increased, and he took the initiative to plan his own schedules. Second, the child was able to develop empathy, bravely face and apologize for mistakes caused by his disruptive behaviors. Third, the mother reported that her child's emotional stability improved significantly. Fourth, the child also tried to practice restraining impulsive behaviors at school to reduce disruptions. |
