| 英文摘要 | Purpose: Our study aimed to examine the differences in bowling performance between different types of self-talk including instructional self-talk strategic (IST), motivational self-talk strategic (MST) and automatic self-talk (AST). In the case of automatic self-talk, we also compared the differences of performance among goal-directed instructional self-talk (GIST), goal-directed motivational self-talk (GMST) and spontaneous self-talk (SST). Method: Twenty young bowling players (16 males, 4 females; average age 18.85 years) with an intermediate skill level were recruited. They were required to engage in three types of self-talk (IST, MST, AST) before walking onto the bowling lanes, with both the content of their self-talk and bowling performance recorded. Results: No performance differences were found among MST, IST and AST. Especially, the GIST was used more frequently in the AST condition, whereas bowling performance was better under using the GMST than the GIST and SST. Conclusion: This study suggests that in precision sports, intermediate-skilled athletes are likely to engage in automatic self-talk, which has effects on performance similar to those of strategic self-talk. Among the automatic self-talk that occurs, content related to regulating mental states is more beneficial to sport performance. These findings provide new insights into the relationship between automatic self-talk and performance in precision sports. |
