| 中文摘要 | 二十世紀晚期許多網路文化論者以二元化網路虛擬空間與實體物理空間之間的關係因而 漠視了身體在「虛擬實境」中的重要性然而本文認為虛擬性並非存在於某個超越肉身經驗的領 域裡而是當身體出現在數位環境(即數位體現)裡存在著某種「虛擬面向」(virtual dimension)。 然而虛擬實境科技及相關沉浸式媒體並不能單純地被視為一種技術更需以一種特別方式組構 受眾感知成為一種「美學技術」。本文從新物質主義的當代思潮出發進一步地重新論證虛擬 藝術在當前的發展不能以二元論的思維對「虛擬」與「真實」進行分立觀眾(或參與者)參 與在虛擬實境的作品之中其感知仍是一種實在的經驗並由此擴展所謂「真實」在當代物質文 明下的定義與範疇藉此宣稱「虛擬作為新現實」的新命題。因此虛擬作為一種新現實是對於 虛擬真實的轉向也是對於虛擬美學的重新省視並朝向關係美學邁進。 |
| 英文摘要 | Many cyber-culture scholars in the late twentieth century took a dualistic view on the relationship between virtual and physical spaces. Although these Scholars disregard for the body, this paper argues that virtuality did not exist in any realm beyond corporeal experiences, rather there is a “virtual dimension” to digital embodiment. However, virtual reality and related immersive media should not be deemed merely a single type of technology, but an “aesthetic technique” that shapes the audience’s perception in a specific way. Starting from contemporary philosophical discussions on neo-materialism, this paper argues that it is impossible to dualistically distinguish the virtual from the real in the current development of virtual art, because the perception of a viewer (or a participant) immersed in a work of virtual reality remains essentially a physical experience. This paper also expands the definition and scope of “reality” in the context of contemporary material civilization, thereby putting forward its proposition of “the virtual as the new real” that represents a shift towards virtual reality, a reflection on virtual aesthetics, and the orientation toward relational aesthetics. |
