| 英文摘要 | Purpose: This study aims to explore the relationship between Taiwan's e-sports industry and national identity under globalization. Methods: This study employs semi-structured interviews conducted with League of Legends players and coaches who have participated in the Chinese League of Legends Professional League (LPL). Interviews were the primary data source, supplemented by secondary sources, to analyze the relationship between the LPL players/coaches and national identity. Results: Analysis of Taiwanese players and coaches who have gone to the LPL yielded four main results: The analysis of Taiwanese players and coaches who participated in the LPL yielded four main findings: 1. The impact of politics on Taiwanese players and coaches: While players and coaches generally avoid political topics during LPL events, economic pressures sometimes compel compromises, suggesting that political influences are primarily reflected in their coping strategies. 2. The influence of Riot's contracts on players and coaches: Riot's contracts explicitly prohibit political and racial statements to avoid controversies. Although these contracts protect labor rights, they also restrict freedom of expression. 3. The impact of China's "26 Measures for Taiwan" policy: As Riot controls the operation of the tournaments, League of Legends e-sports has not been significantly affected by these policies. Players' and coaches' professional advancement is based on skill rather than certifications. 4. The relationship between LPL participation and national identity: Despite linguistic and cultural similarities, participation in the LPL has not significantly influenced Taiwanese players' and coaches' national identity. Their primary focus remains on achievements and financial rewards, with political issues playing a secondary role. Conclusion: Over the past 20 years, many Taiwanese League of Legends professional players and coaches have joined the LPL, making it a major output region for Taiwanese players and coaches. The current League of Legends professional e-sports league is relatively stable and well-received, allowing players and coaches to understand the differences between politics and work. |
