英文摘要 | Dai Zhen's concept of "Reaching ci from characters, reaching Dao from ci" represents traditional interpretative thought, revealing not only the path of classical Chinese interpretation but also the relationship between textual exegesis and ethos interpretation, constituting a relatively mature theory of hermeneutics. Its value for translation studies remains to be elucidated. "Reaching ci from characters" pursues precision in comprehension by integrating the examination of character meanings with contextual verification. The discussions related to "Reaching ci from characters" can guide translators of classics to accurately understand texts, thereby demonstrating the inherent value for translation research. The "Dao" in "Reaching Dao from ci" can be understood as ethos, the guiding principle within the interpretive cycle, or articulate. Thus, "Dao" embodies an open interpretive significance, representing a kind of active and creative theory of interpretation. Dai Zhen believes that "Dao" demands the cultivation of a broad and refined mind and an innovative spirit capable of adapting as circumstances change. For translators, transcending literal interpretation, viewing "reaching Dao" as the ultimate task of translation, entails expanding one's capacity to embrace the ideological and spiritual core contained in the original text and formulating creative expressions within new contexts. Reexamining the interpretative thought of "Reaching ci from characters, reaching Dao from ci" can introduce new theoretical resources for the study of translating classics on one hand and provide new perspectives for contemplating artificial intelligence language interpretation and cross-cultural translation on the other, thus bearing significance for the contemporary era. |
