英文摘要 | The Phaedo is one of the most renowned dialogues of Plato, which recorded the conversations of Socrates in an Athenian prison with two Neo-Pythagoreans, Cebes and Simmias, in an Athenian prison. Issues of the immortality of the soul were debated before Socrates accepted his death execution by drinking poison. This paper explores the death education in the Prelude (57a-69e) and the Final Section (107c-115a) of the dialogue. In this way, we may suggest that the true meaning of Plato's arguments for the immortality of the soul is educational, i.e., to demonstrate to the later generations how we can achieve eternal life through death. |
