中文摘要 | 雙語教育推動在臺灣討論的如火如荼之際,新加坡做為一個雙語與高度教育國際化的國家,其經驗相當值得臺灣納入未來雙語教育推動之考量。本文首先梳理新加坡雙語教育自1965年起之歷史脈絡、過往發展歷程、目前之成效與挑戰。其次,在文末說明臺灣目前雙語教育與雙語國家政策之規劃,並與新加坡過往50年之經驗進行對照與討論,期能提供讀者在深入了解雙語教育議題時一個思考的起點。 |
英文摘要 | The implementation of bilingual education has been a hot issue for public debate in Taiwan. Singapore’s experience of practicing bilingual education and being a highly successful country of internationalized its education system could be a good case for Taiwanese to study. This paper aims at providing an introduction to the historical context, developmental trajectory and the current achievements and challenges of bilingual education in Singapore from 1965 to present. Then, a contrast and discussion between the bilingual experience of Singapore and the policy agenda of bilingual education and bilingual nation in Taiwan are offered. This paper serves as a trigger for the readers to make a critical reflection on the Taiwanese policy agenda with the understanding of what happened in Singapore in the past 50 years. |
