| 英文摘要 | The Effect of smelling wood essential oils from three domestic wood species on physiological reaction and brain α activity changes was investigated in this study. The experimental results were analyzed based on the gender and the wood background knowledge. The experimental results indicated that the systolic blood pressure dropped 4.6 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure dropped 3.75 mmHg for male subjects when they smelled the wood essential oil odors, in which lower blood pressure changes were found in female subjects. The percentages of decreasing blood pressure by smelling essential oil odors from different wood species in decreasing order were those from linalool wood, Taiwan yellow cypress, and China fir. The powers of α activity (8-14 Hz) on the frontal lobe, parietal lobe, temporal, and occipital lobe all showed significant decreases when smelling three wood essential oil odors. Both the highest powers of α activity and decreasing rate were found in occipital lobe with average of 40.81 μV^2 and 15.1%, respectively, for each wood species treatment. In the case of gender, male showed higher decreasing rate of powers of α activity when smelling China fir essential oil odor, while female showed higher decreasing rate when smelling odors of linalool wood and Taiwan yellow cypress. Furthermore, the subjects without wood background knowledge showed a greater decrease in α activity than those subjects with wood background knowledge when smelled wood essential oil odors. |
