英文摘要 | During the final years of Japanese rule in Taiwan, Chijiiwa Suketaro dedicated himself to a large-scale field study that involved surveying and mapping traditional Taiwanese indigenous buildings. His investigation and research of traditional building structures and the historical living spaces of indigenous people possesses historical significance. This study adopts a structural model of taxonomy to generalize and classify Chijiiwa’s historical data regarding indigenous buildings. The resulting classification was then extended to appropriate application directions and to provide empirical evidence according to data type. Specifically, in-depth analysis of the Salamao clan of the Atayal tribe was conducted. The discourse comprises the following: (1) Tracing: Explore the classification of historical data regarding indigenous buildings through a review of existing literature and data matching to deduce the taxonomical system and associated hierarchical structure developed by Chijiiwa for Taiwan’s indigenous buildings; and (2) Rebirth: Employ and extend applications of the digital settlement recovery technique developed from concepts of the taxonomic system combined with Chijiiwa’s historical data. Chijiiwa collected historical survey data on indigenous buildings and produced relevant writings, discourses, and observational pictorials based on multiple post-war visits with indigenous tribes. This study shows that by integrating the previously mentioned methods, Chijiiwa’s historical data can be classified by hierarchy and used to construct a cultural knowledge database regarding Taiwan’s indigenous building settlements. This will enable future generations to integrate the taxonomical concepts with diverse digital technologies for application in various fields including settlement recovery, traditional and ancestral building construction, and indigenous cultural creative designs. |
