| 英文摘要 | Unlike Chinese whose transitivity alternation is semantically constrained, the alternation is more permissive in Japanese due to rich deviational morphology which affixes to verb roots and change its argument structure. The phonologically complex derivational morphology has been recognized as one of the learning challenges for L2 Japanese learners, yet Japanese transitivity alternation also poses a serious challenge for L2 syntax because Japanese allows a wider range of verbs to appear in the alternation whose Chinese counterparts are either non-alternating intransitive or transitive verbs. Thus, a question arises as to how Chinese speakers acquire Japanese verbs whose argument structure differs from that of their L1 counterparts, but which apparently exhibit the same semantics. 30 Taiwanese L2 Japanese learners participated to an acceptability picture judgment task. The results indicated that newly acquired L2 argument structures competed with L1 counterparts and L1 effect persisted in some syntactic contexts. |
