中文摘要 | 本文屬筆者嘗試進行台灣聖公會個案研究初探系列論文之一,是運用台灣聖公會教區辦事處所特藏的《台灣教區通訊》、教區議會年會紀錄、教區議會年會手冊、教區司庫專檔資料等,建構聖公會在在張培揚主教主理時期(1980-1987)建立本色化宗派教會的努力。由於資料龐雜,僅先就教區組織自立入手,分別就三個子題:(一)主教領袖權的再摸索與再形塑、(二)教區組織的再調整與效能的再提升、和(三)聖公會的中外教界網絡的形成與連結,加以探討。本文研究進路並未涉及本色化理論的耙梳,而是以教會工作實務來呈現本色化的內涵與意義。從本時期聖公會在台發展可以看出,基督新教宗派教會在朝向三自(組織自立、教務自傳、財務自養)發展的同時,在教會實務上還須做到四立(經濟獨立、行政獨立、傳揚獨立、思想獨立)和四要(人才要培養、財務要健全、制度要健全、靈性要增強)。除了三自、四立與四要之外,基督新教宗派教會仍與文化中國在宗教對話上努力做出三個有效的連結,分別為中國化(Chineseness)、本地化(localization)、及國際化(internationalization)。至於如何能在此三個連結下真正完成三自、四立與四要,並實現教會本色化,則有待學界後續研究及深入研析。 |
英文摘要 | This paper is to use the archival resources conserved in the diocesan office of Taiwan Episcopal Church at Taipei, including the church newsletters in Chinese, the church newsletters in English, the Convocational Records, and the Work Reports for the Convocation, the Financial Statements and Auditor's Reports, mainly from 1980 to 1987, and give a micro-scope analysis on the Church and its self-governing efforts to reach fully indigenization led by the late Bishop Pui-Yeung Cheung. The purpose of the case study is not to delineate the theoretical inquiry into how a denominational church can be indigenized, but to highlight the real struggles of the Episcopal ministry as well as the congregation during most of the 1980s to achieve its self-governing goal. The Episcopalian experience indicates that the full indigenization is more complex and complicated than we used to think of. In light of the Episcopalian struggles to be self-governing, the Church tried to develop its ecclesiastical work in a broader context of Chineseness, localization and internationalization. Therefore, this paper suggests that we need to pay more attention to the denominational church's real experiments before going further to discuss or pursue any appropriate theological framework to make full indigenized church possible. |
