英文摘要 | Huhuang (Epiphany) was published in 2004 - a book with combined narrative and photographic texts through the eyes of the author himself. He visited and took pictures of ruins around Taiwan before composing 21 short stories about 14 landscapes in Taiwan. His book provides readers with different views and acknowledges the differences between the texts and the pictures. In Bachelard's 'The Politics of Modern Poetics" he discusses the philosophy of "existence" and states that dimension is where one's thoughts are stored. The way the author exploits the entrance and the reflections of dimension become the focal point of the second section. The third section of this paper discusses the way images of the ruins were projected on culture and history and how they can be utilized and written about. Ultimately, the focal point of the book is how the buildings once had special functions but now have turned into ruins, which often provokes nostalgia from activists as well as those in search of "religious enlightenment" or "pathways." The author's long term contribution to and participation in religion and how he leads readers from views on ruins to more spiritual levels makes it a truly worthy read |
