英文摘要 | In the end of 90s and in the beginning of the millennium, in order to cultivate the general public’s confidence towards state schools, despite the lack of support, the British government decided to incorporate gifted education into the regular education model run by state schools. The objective of this change was to ensure equity of education as well as to stimulate excellence in education. Since then, state schools in Britain have provided special education for students who are able, talented or with potential in learning. In the past decade, gifted education in Britain has been prosperous, and progress could be attributed to the collaboration among the central government, local governments, state schools and actors from the private sector. The purpose of this article was to introduce the historical background, the current situation and the future development of the British gifted education system and to provide a useful example for considering the future development of the gifted education system in Taiwan. |
