中文摘要 | 本篇論文係藉由貝理斯珊瑚礁葫蘆島兩類型紅樹林(矮生型紅樹林,邊緣型紅樹林)之研究,探討其生態功能性差異。經由「加勒比海諸國海岸及海域生產力」國際型研究計畫之行,吾人參與計畫項目之一:矮生型紅樹林及邊緣型紅樹林之老葉浸水後之生產力,兩者所在位置之土壤質性,以及紅樹林結構項目子計畫研究。因兩者結構及形態之不同,吾人假設邊緣型紅樹林之枯枝落葉層較厚,且土壤較爲肥沃;因此,造成該類型紅樹林擁有較高之生產力。經研究顯示,本區水文及區位亦對土壤含水層鹽度變化產生貢獻。矮生型紅樹林因爲瀕臨漫地蝕流,經沖刷後土壤鹽分較低,亦容易將土壤中有機質沖走;反之,邊緣型紅樹林因爲鄰近鹹水潟湖,土壤較易殘存有機質。此外,潟湖之初級生產力趨近於零,經由光暗瓶反應,發現該地區紅樹林葉片呼吸作用遠大於光合作用。吾人認爲由於漫地蝕流之水文作用,導致貝理斯葫蘆島上矮生型紅樹林及邊緣型紅樹林形成不同植物之生態演替,此一論證意味著從內陸小溪到內海潟湖,因爲淡水水文效應產生「矮生型紅樹林-邊緣型紅樹林」之不同林相。 |
英文摘要 | This paper was intended to describe a functional comparison of two types of mangroves, dwarf and fringe, at Calabash Caye, Turneffe Atoll, in Belize. As one of the CARICOMP (The Caribbean Coastal Marine Productivity) program's participants, we treated dwarf and fringe mangroves with various approaches to study their senesced leave's aquatic productivities, in-situ soil contexts, and tree's structures. Since the structure and physiognomy of these two forest types appear to be different, the fringe litters mixed under with more organic soils were expected to have a greater effect on productivity in the water column because fringe mangrove produces more leaf litter than that of the dwarf with higher redox potentials. In these areas, hydrology and location were so related as to contribute to the salinity. Therefore, creek was detected well flushed next to dwarf forest than that of fringe forest, adjacent to lagoon, where was probably not as well flushed as the creek. Net Primary Productivity in the lagoon water column was very low (the mean value ≌ 0 mg O₂ L¯¹ hr¯¹). Mangrove leaves seemed to have a more significant effect on respiration instead of photosynthesis. Stronger evidence of the fresh water flush activity was noted in the dwarf side of Calabash Caye, thus, was probably claimed the ecological succession of dwarf to fringe mangrove formations from inland creek toward to inner lagoon due to hydro-driving forces. |
