中文摘要 | 十九世紀,彌爾(John Stuart Mill, 1806-1873 A. D.)繼承邊沁(Jeremy Bentham, 1748-1832 A. D.)的效益主義思想,將其「最大幸福原則」廣泛地落實於哲學、社會、政治、經濟等領域,影響英國甚深。 效益主義這種重視公利甚於私利的主張,遠在中國的春秋戰國時期,便已被墨子發揚光大。然而,除了春秋戰國那段期間,墨學曾經很短暫的成為顯學,之後便在思想史上銷聲匿跡了。何以產生這種發展上的差別? 針對此問題,本論文主要分成三個部份進行探討:首先,釐清效益主義與墨家思想在關於「利」的詮解上,有何差異?其次,找出何以在英國社會,效益主義之利益思想可以源遠流長的發揚開來,但在中國社會卻是曇花一現?最後,則探討這種「重利」的思惟模式,對我們當今的社會有何助益? |
英文摘要 | In nineteen century, John Stuart Mill succeed to Bentham's utilitarianism, practiced “the greatest happiness principle” in the philosophy、society、politics、economics... and make a deep influence to England. The opinion of utilitarianism which attaches great importance to general interest more than self interest, is also maintained by Mohism in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. But in Chinese society, expect the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, Mohism once became a popular thought, and then it disappeared. What is the difference between Utilitarianism and Mohism? For this reason, this essay is focus on three parts: First, to make clear the explanation of “benefit” between utilitarianism and Mohism; second, to find out why in different civilization, the similar thought were made different end? The last, to inquire into the thought of “benefit”, can give any help to our age? |
