英文摘要 | The paper investigates L2/FL listening comprehension processes and com-prehension difficulties from a psycholinguistic viewpoint. Psychological mechanisms, mental representations, and models of information processing are reviewed to understand how listeners process linguistic input and why comprehension difficulties occur. Building upon the literature of the cognitive theories, the author argues that L2/FL listening instruction may be oriented towards the “problem-shooting” of the learners’ listening process, which involves diagnosis, strategy selection, strategy training, expansion, evaluation, etc. Some pedagogical considerations should be also demanded in listening instruction, e.g., targeting on the problematic phase of listening process, raising listeners’ awareness of listening process, and offering listeners positive conceptions of listening. It is hoped that the cognitive perspective of language comprehension may contribute to develop more effective instructional theories for L2/FL listening and initiate more process-oriented research in the future. |
